Aragon Robotics2012 Game Animation: Rebound Rumble! |
What is ART? The Aragon Robotics Team (ART) is a high school robotics team located in San Mateo, California. ART participates in the FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) program, competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). With a student-run, student-based, student-built philosophy, ART has grown from a six-person founding team to a thriving team of forty members. Over the years, we have been expanding into various areas and plan to continue growing. This Year's Game: Rebound Rumble! On January 7th, 2012, Dean Kamen, founder of FIRST, released this year’s FRC game: Rebound Rumble! ART will spend the next six weeks building a robot capable of launching 8" diameter foam basketballs into four hoops of varying heights. During the first fifteen seconds of the match, there is a Hybrid period when teams are only allowed to drive the robot using an Xbox Kinect donated by Microsoft or use a pre-programmed autonomous code. At the end of the match, the teams will practice “Coopertition” (a FIRST term that denotes cooperation and competition simultaneously) by cooperating with other teams to balance their robots on the bridges in the middle of the field in order to score additional points.
